Meet the Career Center Staff!

 

Dr. Yamonte Cooper 

Dr. Yamonte Cooper, LPCC, NCC, is the faculty coordinator of the El Camino College Career Center. He has had the opportunity to work with higher education programs and institutions in Botswana. Further, Dr. Cooper was honored with a prestigious Fulbright International Education Administrator Seminar Award in Germany. He is the past-president of the California Career Development Association (CCDA).

Valencia Rayford

Valencia has worked at El Camino College for the past 17 years, first as an adjunct and currently as a full-time counselor. She has served students in the following capacities; Career and Technical Education counselor, Career Counselor and Professor. She completed her B.A. in Psychology and her M.S. in Educational Counseling with an emphasis in Career from California State University Northridge.

Lesley Meza

Lesley double majored in Global Studies and Spanish from UCSB, and obtained both her degrees, M.S. Counseling with specialization in College Counseling and Student Services and Career Education and Counseling Certificate, from CSUN. She has experience working with diverse student populations in which she has assisted students develop and achieve their academic and career goals.

 Tawnya Cola

Tawnya received her bachelor's degree, in deaf studies, from CSU Northridge and her master's degree, in rehabilitation counseling, from CSU Los Angeles. She worked as a vocational counselor for the Department of Rehabilitation for 16 years. She has been working as an academic counselor at the Special Resource Center for the last three years.

 

 Ngozi Rasheda Akosia

Ngozi is a Holistic Student Services Professional at El Camino Community College, in the department of Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) a student support program. She serves as the Career and Transfer Advisor, and Foster Youth Liaison. Her personal philosophy for success is empowerment through excellence, courage, and compassion.

Markell Morris

  Markell Morris is an experienced career counselor, teacher and trainer who guides her clients in    discovering meaningful career options that integrate their interests, skills, and passions. She has a MA in Counseling from the University of San Diego, and a BA, Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

 Nicole Fogelman

As a transfer student at CSU San Bernardino, Nicole earned her B.A. in Sociology with a double minor in Psychology/Gender and Sexuality Studies. Inspired by her on campus internship as a peer advisor, Nicole continued her education at CSU Northridge and earned her M.S. in Counseling with a specialization in Career Counseling.

Juan Guerra

Juan Guerra earned his Bachelor's Degree in Deaf Studies, a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a certificate in career from CSU Northridge. He is an academic counselor at Los Angeles City College in the Non-Credit/General Counseling area. Mr. Guerra is at El Camino as an academic/career counselor.

Selene Torres

Selene Torres started her career as a counselor serving the veteran population. She has worked for TELACU Veterans Upward Bound Program as an Educational Counselor. She earned her B.S. in Rehabilitation Services, a M.S. in Counseling with the option in Rehabilitation Counseling and a certificate in Career from CSU Los Angeles.

Jovon Duke

Jovon received his B.A. in Sociology and Psychology from Fisk University.While in undergrad he work in education, social service fields, and conducted research on How to Get African-American Males to Pursue Higher Education. Now, Jovon serves the Career Center at El Camino College
