On Monday, February 14, 2005 at approximately 7:46 P.M., an El Camino College student was the victim of an attempted robbery in Parking Lot L. The victim was walking to her vehicle that was parked in the east portion of Parking Lot L when she was approached by the suspect who told her that he was looking for his car.

When the victim reached the location of her vehicle, she told the suspect she was parked here. The suspect then grabbed the student from behind and demanded her vehicle keys. The victim fought back and started screaming.

The suspect then grabbed the victim by the neck and told the victim to be quiet and that he had a gun. The victim continued to resist the suspect. The suspect finally let the victim go and ran eastbound through the lot and out of sight. Several people in the area then came to the victims aid and contacted the Campus Police Department who arrived on scene within minutes of the attack. The suspect is still outstanding.
