Information competency is an essential skill in this new age of information overload and technological advances. Don't get left behind! We offer two classes to get you up to speed.

 

Introduction to Library Skills - LIS 1

Taught by ECC librarian Claudia Striepe (310 660-3593 x6006)  for the Project Success Program in the Fall semesters, or for general enrollment in the Spring semesters. Class hours vary. Generally held in the first eight weeks of the semester.


INCREASE YOUR INFORMATION COMPETENCY! 

  • Learn about the proper Reference and Internet tools to use for research and success.
  • Learn how to use full text periodical databases for assignments.
  • Learn how to plan your reseach
  • Learn how to cite your sources.
  • Learn about the Library of Congress classification system.

 

Library Research Using the Internet - LIS 10

Learn about domains, search tools, excellent web sites, search strategies...  You can't work effectively without it!

    Class generally scheduled for Wednesday afternoons approx 1:00 - 3:05 p.m.  - times may very slightly

One fully Transferable unit awarded per class. The Internet Research class is offered Credit/No Credit
