Ask-A-Librarian: An Electronic Information Service

Ask a Librarian Welcome to El Camino College Library's Ask-A-Librarian service. This service provides students, faculty, staff, and the El Camino College community at large with convenient electronic access to the Library's reference librarians.

Purpose and Scope

The primary goal of the Ask-A-Librarian service is to provide via e-mail, brief, concise answers to factual questions and/or to suggest information resources and search strategies for research needs. Librarians also will respond to questions about library facilities and services. Please note that librarians will not complete students' class assignments, nor provide legal or medical advice.

For complex questions or extensive research needs, please go to the Reference Desk at the Library during our hours of operation, as follows.

  • Monday-Thursday: 8 a.m.-9 p.m.

  • Friday: 8 a.m.-12 noon

  • Saturday: 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Response Time Frame

Questions may be submitted 24 hours a day. Questions will be viewed by a librarian during the period from 8 a.m.-noon each weekday, Monday-Friday. Librarians will make every reasonable effort to respond to questions within 48 hours after viewing them.  Requests received when the library is closed (after-hours, holidays, Sundays, during school breaks) or on Saturdays, will be treated as if they were received the next weekday that the library re-opens.

Submitting A Question
