You will again be allowed one, 1-sided, page of notes (8 ½ x 11 INCHES) to use during the exam.

The following is a rough outline of the exam.

It is not intended to be all-inclusive, but should you give you a good idea of what to focus on in your studies.

Assignments:

Reminders:

1) Videos for each HW.  Be sure to look in the instructional videos section for the videos assigned for each HW.  You will be required to either fill in pre-made notes or make notes of your own if no pre-made notes are provided.  These notes are to be titled and turned in with the HW in order to earn credit for this part of the HW.

2) For ALL HW you need to include a vocabulary list of pertinent vocabulary from each new section you turn in work on.  Label which vocab is from which section to earn credit.  Vocabulary should be defined in a way that helps you, personally:  words, pictures, formulas, etc.  (Any section already completed you do NOT need to redo vocabulary.)

3) For book problems, see HW guidelines (link above) on how to do this work.

Remember: Continue to do vocabulary for EVERY new section we cover and turn them in with the HW.

PRINTOUTS of HW   HW 1-4   HW 5-8

HW #4                                                                                                               Due: 9/28

Song:  All I do is Solve - Watch

Videos: Now Watch the FOUR videos on Solving systems of equations that are listed below under Instructional Videos: "HW " 4 at the bottom of this page.

  • For EACH of the four videos, write the title of the video and a description of the method or idea covered.  You should also work the problems along with the videos.

Book Problems/Vocabulary: As a reminder for this and all HW assignments you are to do vocabulary for EACH new section and turn it in with the HW.  Be sure to label the vocabulary by section.  (This is the last HW assignment that I will remind you of this, take it as an assumption from now on.)

2.1       9abc only

2.2       1

2.4       17

3.1      1, 6, 11, 15 (solve by graphing)

Choose your method for 3.2 & 3.3 but be sure to practice BOTH substitution and elimination:

3.2       1, 17,19, 33, 41, 47, 51*hint: distribute and combine like terms – THEN solve the systme, 93, 94

3.3       1, 2

For the following problems in 3.3 & 3.4 only set up the systems of equations do NOT solve:

  • 3.3     5ab, 6ab
  • 3.4     3, 15, 17, 32

Continue to do vocabulary for EVERY new section we cover and turn them in with the HW.

HW #5                                                                                                      Due: 10/3

Videos:  Watch all the HW #5 videos linked below under instructional videos.  Take notes for each.  Be sure to label with the title of each video link.   There are a LOT of videos so plan for the time to watch them.  They are very helpful, but only if you watch them.  For “Subtracting Polynomials” feel free to fast forward parts that are too slow or not helpful OR if you already know how to subtract polynomials then skip this one video and write your own description of how to subtract and give an example.  Label this “My polynomial subtraction instructions.”

Song: Multiplying Binomials song – listen and enjoy

Book Problems/Vocab:

3.2       15, 27, 56, 59 (choose your method)

In the previous HW you set the following problems up.  Now that you have checked the equations with the solutions given in class, complete the problems by solving them.

  • 3.3     5abd, 6abc   ¬for parts d & c you get to use your BRAIN and outside knowledge to answer, try it out!
  • 3.4     3, 15, 17, 32

Now try the following problems.  Don’t give up, you can do these!

For the following problems in 3.3 only set up the systems of equations do NOT solve:

3.3       13, 16

3.4       33, 35

4.1       3, 5, 7, 9, 25, 57   (I suggest watching the video on exponent properties first)
