The Art Department at El Camino College offers a comprehensive foundation in the history, theory, and practice of Art to students pursuing a degree, a certificate, or seeking to transfer to a four-year degree program.

ASSOCIATE IN ARTS DEGREE
AA - Art History Option
The Art History Option provides students with an understanding of the artistic and expressive ways in which people in different cultures have historically responded to themselves and the world around them. In addition to Western Art, courses offered survey African, Central American, Chinese, Indian, Southeast Asian, Japanese, Korean, Mexican, and South American Art.
AA - Studio Art Option
Areas of interest in Studio Art include:

This degree is designed to meet the needs of transferring students, guaranteeing admission to a California State University (CSU) in Art History or similar degree program.

Art Gallery
The Art Gallery is an important part of the cultural landscape of the South Bay, attracting many visitors to the campus each year. The El Camino Art Gallery offers valuable opportunities to explore and experience contemporary works of art from different cultures. In addition, the Art Gallery provides students with the opportunity to participate in an Annual Student Show, as well as to view works by other students, faculty and outside artists. The gallery is free and open to the public.
Master Classes and Events
Students are encouraged to participate in master classes presented by visiting artists. Upcoming events and ticket information is available through Center for the Arts.
Our FacilitiesThe Art Department facilities include Mac and PC computer and photo labs, a metal foundry, smart classrooms, auditorium-style lecture halls, and spacious drawing, painting, ceramics and sculpture studios.
